Celebrities and Vine; What We Can Learn From Them

VinelogoCelebrities take to applications like Vine because they are “people applications,” says Bill Simmon, filmmaker, writer, media educator and new media evangelist. But many other people heavily utilize these micro-video sites, as well; it’s just that celebrities get more attention than the Every Man.

Who are some of the most clever celebrities when it comes to making videos using Twitter’s mobile video app? WATCH as Simmon talks about some of the most prolific celebrity Vine users, and what lessons cause-driven organizations can learn from them:

Actor and filmmaker Adam Goldberg, for one, says Simmon uses Vine in creative, engaging ways. Goldberg is Screen Shot 2014-05-06 at 12.19.27 PMactually known to be the king of Vine. His Vine feed “is fantastic. It’s hilarious and weird,” Simmon says. Actor James Urbaniak has also “taken to Vine like a fish to water.”

Simmon says many non-profits and cause-driven people can look at these celebrities leaders in the Vine and micro-video space and emulate some of the techniques they are using, but those organizations also have room to be original and tell some of their own stories.
